Quarantine Day 1

My husband and I are both teachers and our schools have closed for at least two weeks, but that closure could be extended.

It has been less than 8 hours and we are doing surprisingly well.

I have already taken a mile long walk with our dog, made the beds, had breakfast, took a shower, did my lesson plans for the next several weeks, answered some emails and crossed three things off of my “to-do” list. I better slow down or I am going to run out of tasks to do before this is even close to being over!

I am currently watching old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy cuddling on the couch with my dog and I oddly feel the need to get up and do something. When I am home on the weekend, I legit almost NEVER do anything. I just take the dog for walks and cuddle with her, literally the whole weekend. Throw in some neighborhood stalking from the front porch or the occasional game of fetch outside, and that is pretty much our weekend.

With the idea of being quarantined to my house for the rest of this month and possibly longer… I feel like I might go crazy; which is so foreign to me. I am never one to have the need to constantly be active, so this sudden urge to complete tasks is creeping me out a bit.

My current to-do list:

  • clean out my closet
  • straighten up our sitting room
  • go through and organize my personal google drive
  • tab my mini lesson text book for school (don’t ask)
  • find new series on Netflix (priorities people!)
  • put away St. Patty’s Day decor
  • change pillows on couches
  • purchase spring decor for the house and my classroom
  • clean china in curio cabinet in dining room
  • go through containers in the basement
  • clean out the bar
  • clean out drawers in the guest room
  • bake cookies
  • trim the house plants

While it is a pretty extensive list, it’s going to be achieved before this two week quarantine is over. Once that happens, then what? Do I make another to-do list? If so, what the hell am I putting on this second list?

I guess I could look at all of the framed photos we have throughout the house and see if any need updating. We are able to go to drugstores if we need to, so I could always print some new photos.

Wow, this is what it is coming down to, huh?!

I am going to finish this episode of Grey’s, and then try my best to not cross something else off of my list today.

peace.

xoxo
