Don’t Touch My Curly Hair, Ever

To all of my curly-hair gals: you know exactly where I am coming from.

I just spent 1o minutes washing and conditioning it, another 10 minutes combing it, 5 minutes putting product in, 15 minutes letting it air dry, 15 minutes diffusing it, 10 minutes applying more product and another 15 minutes styling it with the final spray lasting 1-2 minutes. After all of that, you’re going to touch it? Really?!

The second you touch curly hair, it literally loses all product and bounce. The more you touch it and play with it, the bigger it gets in volume and the more it frizzes. I do not know about anybody else, but I apply product to tame the frizz, not increase it.

The worst is when I have my hair down and I hug someone. Then, in the process of them hugging me back, they then rub my back which in turn rubs my hair as well. Why? You can’t just hug me normal? You really rub someone’s hair when you hug them? Why? Who does that?

I also have those friends that will hug me, rub my hair, and then say “Oh, sorry”. I touched your hair” because they know I don’t like it as they then proceed to play with my hair and attempt to fix it.

People with curly hair spend a lot of time and money taking care of and styling their hair. When someone touches it or plays with it, especially without asking, it literally can ruin everything they have worked for that day.

When I have a bun in my hair, specifically a styled “messy bun”, for the love of God do not touch it! Do not poke it, pet it, and don’t you dare pull or tug on it! That “messy bun” took me 25 minutes, two rounds of styling mousse and 17 attempts before I achieved the bun that was publicly appropriate without the rat’s nest look. I do not need you touching it and messing with it.

I think I can speak for the majority of women, and men, with curly hair when I say “stop touching our hair”!

Please and thank you.

Sincerely,

Crazy obsessive curly hair girl
